Suzanne grew up in Statesboro, GA where she was very active in First United Methodist Church. She graduated from UGA with a degree in Anthropology and an engagement ring from a Charlestonian. She was married and moved to Charleston. She joined St. Philip’s Church in 1986, the year her first son was born. Her second son arrived in 1989. After divorcing in 1995 she graduated from the Citadel with a Masters in Elementary School Guidance. She married Gerry McCord in 1999. Gerry has been leading trips from St. Philip’s to the island of la Gonave each year and since 1999 Suzanne has gone with him. Suzanne has worked 6 years as an elementary school guidance counselor at First Baptist Church School of Mount Pleasant, 2 years as full-time Wando Band mom, 6 years as receptionist at St. Philip’s Church, one year off to care for her son after he was in a car accident in which he received a TBI (he is fully recovered now TBTG), 3 years part-time as office administrator at St. Barnabas Lutheran Church, and now she is here at St. Peter’s! God truly uses all things for the good of those who love Him. Suzanne has a heart for serving the Lord. And the many ups and downs of her life have not only given her gray hair, but also an unshakeable faith and peace that comes from trusting in a God who is good beyond what we can even imagine.
